As it has been a few weeks, I guess it’s about time I updated this. Let’s see, what’s new and interesting…?
The new, revised edition of the ultimate handbook on writing horror, ON WRITING HORROR: A Handbook by The Horror Writers Association is due to be released any day now. As the guy who negotiated the contract for the project back when I was president of the HWA, I received an advanced copy of the completed work in the mail yesterday and can heartily recommend it. It includes articles by 58 of the top horror writers working in the field today, including Stephen King, Ramsey Campbell, David Morrell, and Harlan Ellison. (Full disclosure – I’ve got a chapter in there myself.) Here’s a shot of the cover:

Okay, what else? Work on the third volume of the Templar Chronicles continues and is nearing completion. The English title will be The Other Side of Darkness. The German title has also been decided upon. Like the first two books in the trilogy, the German title will differ from the American one. Droemer-Knaur, my German publisher, likes simple, one word titles that, when combined with great artwork, really jump off the shelves.
Book One – HERETIC – became DER KETZER. (The Heretic)
Book Two – A SCREAM OF ANGELS – became DER ENGEL. (The Angel)
Book Three – The Other Side of Darkness – will become DIE SCHATTEN. (The Shadows)
And last but not least, my buddy Dave Wilson is performing an experiment on Technorati rankings and asked for folks to put a link to his blog on their most recent post – so here you go Dave! Visit Dave’s Deep Blue livejournal.
