My friend Joe Konrath put up an excellent post here that talked about his success with offering editions of his book on the Amazon Kindle. I was tempted to do the same, particularly with electronic editions of all three books in the Templar Chronicles trilogy. After all, I reasoned, none of my fans in the US and Canada have had a chance to read the final two books as they have only been available in foreign language editions up until this point.
However, a quick chat with my new agent (yes, I said new agent and I’m very excited to be working with him) convinced me that the opportunity to sell the entire series to a mass market publisher still exists and that offering up the electronic rights might skew that possibility sideways. Not something I want to do, obviously.
So instead I decided to go all the way back to the beginning and make my debut novel RIVERWATCH available instead. Despite being my first book, it was nominated for both the International Horror Guild Award and the Bram Stoker Award (which I’m always happy to brag about) and was even optioned for a few years to a Hollywood production company. All of which is a long way of saying its a pretty entertaining book.
Right now, RIVERWATCH is selling for $1.59 for the Kindle edition. If you haven’t read it yet, do yourself a favor and take advantage of this terrific price. If you have read it, buy it for someone else and make all three of us happy.
Since I’m on the topic of Kindle books, I should probably mention that my friend and fellow writer Jon F. Merz also has a terrific deal going on right now for one of his works in a Kindle edition. HIs novel PARALLAX, a first rate action thriller, is available for $1.59, too. Which means for less than the price of a vente coffee at Starbucks you can get nearly 700 pages of reading entertainment from two great authors.
What are you waiting for?
Since its been awhile since I’ve updated this site, I figured it might be a good time to let you all know what I’ve been up to and what you can expect from me in the future. I’ve been writing non-stop for almost three months, on several different projects, and I still have a few more to go before I can call it quits for the year.
RECENTLY COMPLETED:
THE LOST TOMB - My first book for the Rogue Angel adventure series was completed back in October and accepted by the publisher. If you aren’t familiar with the series, it revolves around the adventures of Annja Creed, an amateur archeologist and adventurer who stumbles upon the lost sword of Joan of Arc and, as a result, adds up involved in all sorts of mystical action and harrowing adventures. In THE LOST TOMB, Annja is on the search for the legendary tomb of Genghis Khan. If you want to learn more about Annja, chjeck out her Myspace page! also check out the official blog from Gold Eagle (Rogue Angel’s publisher).
(Other recent Rogue Angel titles by other writers:

EYES TO SEE - The revised manuscript for my latest standalone novel was finally turned in to my German publisher and my agent will soon be submitting it to US publisher as well. EYES centers on the character of Jeremiah Hunt, a man who gives up his eyes to see through the eyes of the ghosts who surround us all as he searches for the daughter who abducted from his home years before. I ended up not only rewriting roughly 60% of the original manuscript, but also added an extra 27,000 words by the time the final version was accepted. I’ve thrilled with home it turned out and I hope to return to work with Jeremiah again in the future. (For those who read my other works, the character of Denise Clearwater, who first appeared in the Templar Chronicles, returns again in EYES and plays much more of a central role.)
EPIC Book II - The second installment in the illustrated narrative project I’m working with artist Patrick Hatfield has also been consuming my days and nights. I’ve just about finished up the initial draft and it will be going out to Patrick in the next few days for him to start working his magic on the illustrations. All of the individual scenes have been written and I’m now in the process of stitching them all together and making certain there aren’t any continuity problems stretching back to the first book.
STILL TO COME:
BABYLON DREAMS - This limited edition novella is a new installment in the Templar Chronicles and features Knight Commander Cade Williams and his Echo Team allied with Denise Clearwater and her coven of
witches as they try and stop a demon infestation of Long Island. At this point I’ve got the project mapped out, but the writing has only just begun. Still, it will be fun to bring these two groups together and see what they can do as partners.
YIN & YANG - My second novel for the Rogue Angel series, which is due just after Christmas. Work is progressing nicely and I should turn it in by the deadline or just after.
SUPER SECRET PROJECT - I’ll be unveiling more about this project in the months to come, but at this point I simply want to say that this is the largest and perhaps most exciting thing I’ve done with my work to date. More after the first of the year!
The German mass market version of Der Ketzer will be out soon and my editor was kind enough to forward the cover art for it this morning.
