Several of you have written asking for an update on INFERNAL GAMES. Some of you have even posted multiple times in the same day, asking the same question but adding a few extra exclamation points after it for emphasis.
First, I appreciate the interest in both my work and this particular book in general. Thank you. I can’t stress that enough.
However, there are several factors at work here which together have caused the delay. The first is my desire to produce the best book I can. I love this series and I won’t rush something to market just because I’m anxious to release it. I want my readers to love this book so much that they will pick up books five and six as well. (Yes, I did say five and six – more on that later.)
Second, I make my living from my writing and the simple fact of the matter is that unlike my contracted work, no one is paying me to write Infernal Games. Which means it needs to be written, edited, designed, laid out, and converted into digital formats all in my spare time between writing the books that I AM paid in advance for and which put food on my kid’s dinner table.
Sometimes, things don’t go as planned. I had haoped to have IG out by the end of February, but rewrites on another project for which I am under contract simply had to take precedence. Then, when I did return to work on finishing IG, I was just not happy with a good chunk of the text. It was fair, but it wasn’t great. So back into rewrites it went. And that’s where it still is.
I’m working on it whenever I can and hope to have some more concrete information about a release date shortly. It will be released for the Kindle, nook, iPad, and Kobo all at the same time. In addition, contracts have been signed and approved to bring out an audio edition via GraphicAudio, the company who produced the first three books. Discussion on a print version still continues, but it won’t hold up the digital release in any way at this point.
So I hope that answers all of your questions. If not, feel free to use the Contact page and drop me a line. If you preordered IG, those preorders still stand and you’ll get a copy the day it is released. If you would prefer to get a refund and wait until it comes out, simply let me know and I’ll take care of it immediately.
And now, back to work!

Thanks for the update Joe. This is a tremendous series and I can’t wait for
IG to be released – also looking forward to several more volumes! Thanks again for the update, and I wish you the best. Regards,
Dave
Thank you for the update. Your books are wonderful. I read Eyes to See also. I can’t wait for the next one!
Thanks Michelle! I’m very glad that you are enjoying them and am sorry that IG is taking so long. I want it to be worth your time and attention though, so I’ll keep banging away at it util its ready to go!
Joe, excellent series so far. I had been so far drowned into the Dresden Files by Butcher, that I never thought I’d like another book series. You proved me wrong. I read the first three novels on my family’s Kindle. Keep up the good work man!
A great series. Can not wait for the next part
Thanks for the update! I am looking forward to the next book and/or books in the series!
Can’t wait for IG.. such an excellent series. Ever thought of cloning- so you could do two or more things at once. Oh but to have your obvious talent!
I wish, Nancy, I wish.
I literally just finished reading A Tear In The Sky, not knowing there was a 4th book due. I thought the TC was a trilogy. Imagine my excitement when I read “Continued in Infernal Games, coming fall 2011″ And then my disappointment when I couldn’t find IG. Put food on your table my friend, we’ll wait for the next book in this amazing series.
Thank you, Pierre. I greatly appreciate the kind words and the support for my work.
And in case you didn’t notice, IG is the first book in a brand new Templar trilogy!
Joe:
I have read a lot of ur books over the past couple months. I started with the templar chronicles and can’t get enough of reading your writings. I am however nearing the end of all the published work I can find from u on amazon and was wondering if u have more published else where or could make any recommendations to other authors of similar writing styles or maybe some who have inspired your writings so that I can find more to read untill your next book comes out???
Jeremy – Thanks for your support and the kind words about my work.
My next book comes out in two weeks – BY THE BLOOD OF HEROES launches my new series, The Great Undead War, and will be out on May 1st.
I would also recommend books by Jon F. Merz, David Niall Wilson, Mike Carey, Rob Thurman, Kevin Hearne, and Myke Cole if you are looking for more urban fantasy.
