JournalStone Publishing Announces Signing of New Authors And Forthcoming Titles By Allyson Bird, Lisa Morton, & Joseph Nassise

SAN FRANCISCO, July 21, 2012

JournalStone Publishing President, Christopher C. Payne is pleased to announce that JournalStone Publishing has signed three new, prominent, award-winning authors and will have three exciting, forthcoming titles to release in 2013.

British Fantasy Award and HWA Bram Stoker Award™-winning author Allyson Bird will have the definitive edition of her brilliant, BFA award-winning first fiction collection, Bull Running For Girls, released by JS in January, 2013. No less an authority than the legendary Joe R. Lansdale, winner of the British Fantasy, the American Horror, the Edgar, seven Bram Stoker Awards, and recent winner of the HWA’s Life Achievement Award has said of Allyson Bird that:

“So let me repeat: as a writer, Ms. Bird is her own thing…She is a writer of organized chaos. Her work is Halloween candy with razor blades in it. Fairy Tales with the flesh and blood and bones and viscera in them. Her skill is sneaky and exciting, and everything a reader could want from a good story.”

Screenwriter, four-time HWA Bram Stoker Award™-winning author and world renowned expert on Halloween, Lisa Morton, has been signed by JS to release her original Halloween-themed horror novella, Summer’s End, fittingly just in time for Halloween, in October, 2013. As acclaimed, multi-award-winning author and editor Dennis Etchison has noted of Lisa Morton:

“She makes the familiar new, the commonplace fresh and more interesting than I had thought it was, and nourishing in unexpected ways. That she many not yet recognize this aspect of her work is no surprise, since it is the result of a creative process she performs as a matter of course. But she deserves my special thanks for digesting our particular world and giving it back to me in another form, colored by an intelligence that is, whether she knows it or not, as unique as a fingerprint.

Finally, JS is proud to announce that it has signed international bestselling author Joseph Nassise, and will be releasing his new novel, The Fall of Night, in Spring 2013. New York Times bestselling author Jonathan Maberry has described Nassise’s writing as: “Heartbreaking, deeply insightful, powerful and genuinely thrilling.”

JournalStone Publishing is a small press publishing company, focusing in the Science Fiction/Fantasy/Horror genres in both the adult and young adult markets.  We publish in multiple book formats and market our authors on a global level. In addition to showcasing new authors, JournalStone publishes a yearly anthology of collected short stories, and we host an annual contest for Horror Novels. We are also active with major writer’s groups, including the Horror Writers Association (HWA), and produce a monthly newsletter with exposure to thousands of people. Our online presence and marketing effort is constantly expanding and recently we began our own forum. The company’s main goal is to publish quality novels that will showcase an author’s work and promote that work utilizing our evolving presence. Assisted by a hard-working and distinguished staff of employees, President and Editor-In-Chief Christopher C. Payne has led JS on a rapid and successful journey to recognition and sales within the marketplace.

With two books nominated for awards in JournalStone’s first 12 months of operation, Chris and his team are still not willing to slow down.  2012 has already seen JournalStone on the front cover of Publishers Weekly magazine in an April issue; with three of its authors highlighted on the inside cover.  Additionally, Joseph Nassise (international bestselling author), Jonathan Maberry (New York Times bestselling author), and Benjamin Kane Ethridge (2010 Bram Stoker Award winner), have been added as JournalStone signed authors, complimenting Brett J. Talley and Anne C. Petty on a shared world anthology titled Limbus, to be released in the fall of 2012.
