Introducing Matthew Caine

Who is Matthew Caine?

Well, he’s me,  Or at least half of him is.  The other half is my good friend and collaborator, Steven Savile. We’ve gotten together to produce a three book epic fantasy series known as the Aspect Cycle and we’re putting it out under the pseudonym Matthew Caine.

Book one, Ghosts of the Conquered, is nearly 500 pages in length and will be available starting May 27th in the Epic Fantasy Bundle from Storybundle.com.  It will then be available at all the usual vendors, starting with the Nook First program at Barnes & Noble.

Book two, The Swords of Scorn, will follow right on the heels of the first, launching in late June/early July.

cover

Some heroes live by the sword.
Some heroes die by the sword.
Some have no idea they are heroes, they are just fighting to stay alive…

Kane used to be a hero. He was one of the Del Carpio, an honor-bound wanderer committed to keeping the peace in troubled times. He has lived his life as a protector of the weak and vulnerable. Now he doesn’t know what he is. His world has been shattered. His sword brothers are dead, butchered at the funeral of the order’s founder. Kane is the last man standing and he hates himself because he isn’t dead alongside them. There is honor in death, there is no honor in survival because instead of mourning at the graveside he chose to wallow in self-pity and the bottle and it saved his life. There must have been a traitor in their number. That’s the only way it could have happened. But who? And why?

Jenn is the Beggar King’s puppet. She used to be a warrior, a Del Carpio like Kane, until with one stupid mistake she damned herself. Now she doesn’t even recognise herself or the things she is capable of. She used to be a good person. So why is she breaking into a child’s bedroom to commit murder?

Swann, the White Feather, is a legend. He’s also a marked man. The Steel Man, the underworld kingpin, wants him dead and has initiated The Game of Dominion to see that it happens. The Game is a cull to weed out the weak and the old. Everyone is a target, no recriminations. Swann, though, has a gift for staying alive. Which might be a problem for the Steel Man.

This is the story of two soliders beaten down by the madness of war, trying to make their way home. This is the story of two sorcerers, one driven mad by the demands of raising the dead the other absolutely rational in his hatred for mankind and his quest for a lost magic.

This is the story of mad gods and beggar kings.

This is the story of the Ghosts of the Conquered..

Visit Storybundle.com on May 27th to get Ghosts of the Conquered before its available anywhere else!

Minor Delay for Fall of Night

FallofNight2014smallStill trying to get life under control over here post auto accident so I’ve gone ahead and made the difficult decision to cancel the pre-order release of Fall of Night on Amazon.com. I know this will be a pain in the ass for some of my customers, but the last thing I wanted to do was release a book rushed into production when things are so hectic on this end.  In the long run, this will be the better option.

Fall of Night will be coming before the end of this month – that I guarantee.

Thanks for bearing with me and for understanding!

Special Ops Bundle

THE SPECIAL OPS BUNDLE IS HERE!

SpecialOpsBundle

I’m curating a new Special Ops Bundle for storybundle.com, a remarkable collection of eight terrific novels by bestselling authors and rising stars. As always, at StoryBundle, you name your own price—whatever you feel the books are worth, and a portion of the proceeds goes to charity (in this case, Mighty Writers and Girls Write Now).

The Special Ops bundle contains two books in my Templar Chronicles, an internationally best selling series about modern Templar Knights who act as a secret combat squad for the Vatican, defending mankind from supernatural threats and enemies. The books — Infernal Games and Judgment Day — go together as two parts of a whole, with Judgment Day picking up immediately after Infernal Games. Trust me, you’re going to want to get them both.

The bundle also contains two origin stories for two of my favorite special ops series; Prime from Jeremy Robinson’s Chess Team books and Crucible from Steve Savile’s Ogmios Team series. Both are action-packed series from bestselling authors that are sure to be a big hit with thriller lovers everywhere. In addition, we’ve got a Dane and Bones novel, Dead Ice, from David Wood with Steve Savile and an O.U.T.C.A.S.T Ops novel, The Poseidon Initiative, from Rick Chesler.

But that’s not all – the bonus section has two more works that I know you won’t want to miss. The first is SNAFU: Heroes, a collection of four military-oriented horror stories from Jonathan Maberry, James A. Moore, Weston Ochse, and last, but not least, some guy named Nassise. The second, the piece de resistance of the entire bundle, if you will, is Mortal Threat, the latest military thriller from retired brigadier general A.J. Tata. I can’t think of a better way to round out a bundle like this with a novel like that!

For StoryBundle, you decide what price you want to pay. For $3 (or more, if you feel generous), you’ll get the basic bundle of four books in any ebook format—WORLDWIDE. If you pay $12 (or more, if you feel generous), you’ll get the four bonus books as well.

The Special Ops bundle runs for three weeks only. This is a great deal, and a great way to pick up a batch of books for a can’t beat price! – Joe Nassise

The initial titles in the bundle (minimum $3 to purchase) are:

  • Dead Ice by David Wood and Steven Savile
  • Infernal Games by Joseph Nassise
  • OUTCAST Ops: The Poseidon Initiative by Rick Chesler
  • Crucible by Steven Savile and Steve Lockley

If you pay more than the bonus price of just $12, you’ll get another four titles:

  • SNAFU: Heroes by Geoff Brown and Amanda J Spedding
  • Judgment Day by Joseph Nassise
  • Prime by Jeremy Robinson and Sean Ellis
  • Mortal Threat by A.J. Tata

The bundle is available for a very limited time only, via http://www.storybundle.com/specialops. It allows easy reading on computers, smartphones, and tablets as well as Kindle and other ereaders via file transfer, email, and other methods. You get multiple DRM-free formats (.epub and .mobi) for all books!

It’s also super easy to give the gift of reading with StoryBundle, thanks to our gift cards – which allow you to send someone a code that they can redeem for any future StoryBundle bundle – and timed delivery, which allows you to control exactly when your recipient will get the gift of StoryBundle.

  • Support authors who support DRM-free books: StoryBundle is a platform for authors to get exposure for their works, both for the titles featured in the bundle and for the rest of their catalog. Supporting authors who let you read their books on any device you want—restriction free—will show everyone there’s nothing wrong with ditching DRM.

Structuring Your Novel Class starts Thursday – Still Time to Sign up!

structuring-your-novel

Building a novel is like building a house. It’s only going to stand up if you start with a strong foundation.

In order to deliver the powerful emotional experience readers crave, you need to manage the conflict like a master architect. All the pieces need to be in the exact right place. And in order to do that, you have to understand your story at a structural level.

Joseph Nassise is the author of more than 20 novels. He’s seen success in both traditional and self-publishing. He’s written critically-acclaimed, internationally best-selling books, like the Templar Chronicles series. The dude knows how to write a book.

And he’s here to show you how.

This workshop will teach you the elemental structure that is at the core of every successful story. It’ll teach you how to adapt that structure to your work-in-progress, laying down the necessary foundation—and increasing its chance of success in the marketplace—letting you move forward with confidence.

In this class, you’ll get in-depth written lectures, homework assignments that’ll be critiqued by Joe and your classmates, and opportunities to pick Joe’s best-selling brain along the way.

* Because this class runs through the holiday season, assignment deadlines will be flexible, and extra time will be built into the schedule if required.

Judgment Day now available!

Judgment Day is here!

The long-awaited fifth book in the Templar Chronicles is now available at the usual ebook retailers, with a paperback edition to follow by the end of the month.  This book picks up right where Infernal Games left off and answers quite a few questions that have arisen up to this point in the series.  Here’s the cover art and jacket copy…

Judgment Day JUDGMENT DAY
Book Five of the Templar Chronicles Series

Cade Williams’ worst nightmare has come true. The Necromancer’s black magick has not only released the Adversary from the infernal realms where Cade imprisoned it, but allowed the fallen angel to possess the body of Cade’s beloved wife, Gabrielle, in the process. When the Templars interrupt the ritual and kill the Necromancer, the Adversary sprouts wings and escapes into the darkness.

Branded a traitor by the Templars for his cooperation with the sorcerer, willing or not, Cade finds himself hunted by his former allies as an enemy of the Order while working feverishly to track down the Adversary and rescue his wife from the vile creature’s control. It is almost too much for the weary Echo Team commander to handle.

Just when he thinks things can’t get any worse, he makes contact with a creature known as the Forsaken One and discovers answers to the questions that have haunted him since the Adversary first appeared in his life. Answers that may ultimately cost him more than he ever imagined.
